The general duties for this position include receiving emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, broadcasts orders to police, fire and ambulance units and provide pre-arrival instruction to callers by performing certain duties. This position requires shift work, which includes day shift, afternoon shift, night shift, weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or GED is required for this position. Applicants must be 21 years of age. Experience is desired but not required. Applicant must have a valid Colorado Drivers License. Applicant should have good computer skills and be able to multitask.
The selection process will include the completion of the Grand County Sheriff’s Office employment application, a written test, an interview, a psychological interview, and an in depth background check.
This position is a pay Grade 18 starting at $31,290 per year.

Position: Detention Deputy

The general duties for this position include guarding and supervising prisoners in the Grand County Jail, assume responsibility for all needs of prisoners during detention and serve as court security and transport officer as needed. This position requires shift work, which includes day shift, night shift, weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or GED is required for this position. Applicant must be 21 years of age. Experience is desired but not required. Applicant must have a valid Colorado Drivers License. Applicant should have good computer skills.

This position is a pay Grade 21, starting at $36,287 per year.

Position: Patrol Deputy

Grand County is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains just 90 miles west of Denver. The county seat being Hot Sulphur Springs.
Grand County is 1850 square miles in size, and has year around population of approximately 12,600 people. Because Grand County
offers
year around recreation, it is not uncommon to have in excess of 35,000 people on any given weekend, winter, spring, summer or
fall. Some of our popular hot spots are Winter Park Resort, Mary Jane Ski Area, Sole Vista Resort, Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain
Reservoir, Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand County is also known as a “Sportsman’s Paradise.” Grand County
has some of the best big game hunting and fishing with in the state of Colorado.
The Sheriff's Department has twenty-three sworn positions, to include the Sheriff, Under Sheriff, two Lieutenants, two patrol sergeants, three
Investigators and fourteen patrol deputies. There are also two Detention Sergeants and fourteen Detention Officers, three Animal Control
Officer's, eight Communications Officers and four Administrative Professionals.
The patrol division currently works a four on three off shift schedule. Our shifts rotate every 6 months. We have in house training
throughout the year. We also offer boat, snowmobile, bicycle, DUI patrols, Search and Rescue and much more.
Salary and benefits are noted as, but not limited to, the following:
- Base salary starts at $40,054.00 a year, adjusted accordingly based on experience. Dependant on your law enforcement
experience, you may be eligible for a 2.5% or higher pay increase after you successfully complete the Field Training Program.
- Clothing allowance is $ 90.00 per month.
- Employees are eligible for group health insurance following 30 days of completed service. There is a base plan as well as buy up
option offered.
- One day per month of consecutive employment of sick time is granted.
- Vacation time accrues monthly so that by your anniversary date there is 2 weeks (10 days) paid time off. After 90 days of continuous
employment, you are allowed to take vacation time up to the number of hours that has accrued to that point.
- There are 10.5 paid Holidays.
Upon hire, required enrollment in the 401(a) retirement program, with contributions ranging from 3-6% of your gross income. This amount
is matched by the County, and is irrevocable until a new plan agreement is adopted. An optional 457 Retirement Plan is also offered in
addition. |
