SENIOR CITIZEN PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION
A property tax exemption is available to any senior who is 65 or older, and has owned and occupied their home as their primary residence for the 10 years prior to January 1.

  

The Colorado General Assembly may raise or lower by law the maximum amount of actual value of which 50% shall be exempt. 39-3-203, C.R.S. enacted 50% of zero dollars of actual value for tax years 2009, 2010, 2011.

An application can be obtained by clicking the links below. The deadline to apply for the exemption is July 15. If you already applied for this exemption, you do not need to apply again.

This form must be completed for those properties held within a trust, corporation, etc.

 

DISABLED VETERANS PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION
A property tax exemption is available for veterens for whom the

United States Department of Veterans Affairs has rated the applicant’s

service connected disability as 100 percent permanent and total.

This application must be submitted to the Colorado Division of Veterans Affairs as instructed on the application. They can be reached at 303-343-1268.

 

PERSONAL PROPERTY DECLARATIONS
All owners of taxable personal property are required to file a Personal Property Declaration each year. 

The Business Personal Property Declaration form is used for any commercial business. Business Personal Property Declaration

 

The Residential Personal Property Declaration form is used for a residence
that is being rented. Residential Personal Property Declaration

The Lessor Personal Property Declaration form is used for equipment leased to others. Lessor Personal Property Declaration

The Declaration must be signed, dated and returned to us no later than April 15.

CURRENT YEAR REAL PROPERTY APPEAL FORM (VALID MAY 1 THROUGH JUNE 1)

If you choose to protest your valuation or classification, complete the appeal form

and return it to the Assessor at PO Box 302, 308 Byers Avenue

Hot Sulphur Springs CO 80451.

To preserve your right to protest, your appeal must be postmarked,

emailed, or delivered in person on or before June 1.

The Assessor must make a decision on your protest and mail a Notice of

Determination to you by the last working day in June.

If you disagree with the Assessor's determination, or if you do not receive

a Notice of Determination from the Assessor, you must file a written appeal

with the County Board of Equalization on or before July 15th.

ABATEMENT FORM

This form is used to request an abatement or refund of taxes when the

property owner believes that the taxes were erroneously or illegally assessed

due to an error in value, irregularity in levying, clerical error or overvaluation.
